Fun and loud pop music is a vibe I famously avoided for a good part of my early life. I think it was basically because I'm a little HIGH-STRUNG as my baseline personality and that there was maybe a perceived sense of urgency about upbeat songs that exacerbated my agita. There was also some internalized classim going on as a kid where I thought songs on the radio were vapid or gauche or something.
As I've gotten older and generally wiser I realized the highbrow/lowbrow distinction is FAKE, I learned about the concept of CAMP and other subversive ways of engaging with popular cultural myths, I EXPANDED my idea of what "pop" was after realizing how musically varied that category/forumla/whatever is. Generally I became less of a nerd narc hater and more of a cool and laid-back person.
Not that all these songs are even POP-Y, just that I had a very narrow idea of what pop was and if a song was catchy and upbeat I usually was prejudiced against it since I'd decided I wasn't into pop. And now I like all sorts of things. All this to say: these are upbeat songs that make me feel HOT, RICH, AND FAMOUS.
